Oppigårds Winterale (bottle) 5,3%
It poured a slightly hazy dark amber liquid with a medium sized beige foam, that left lots of lacing.

It had a fresh smell of grass, hops and caramell.

Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and medium bitterness. Nice to drink, not very intense flavour and a bit sweet. Tasted of grassy hops, caramell and a hint of some spices.

This beer worked well with chocolate but not sure how it would work with the salty christmas food. I heard the hoppy flavour didn’t work so well. But I haven’t tried myself.

Anchor Our Special Ale 2009 (bottle) 5,5%
It poured a clear very dark amber liquid with a big light brown foam that left lots of lacing.

Smell of malt, dark bread, hops and spices.

Medium smooth mouthfeel with just a bit of sting, also medium body. Taste of malt, dark bread, hops and something burned. Pretty decent beer.

I had this with some greek food and it didn’t work at all. A bit unsure how it would work with the salty christmas food. Might be a better match afterwards.
